Gluten-Free Donut Holes (Air Fryer)
With just 6 simple ingredients and an air-fryer, you can create these delicious warm, gluten-free donut holes in no time at all. No resting, rising, proofing, or vats of hot oil required!
Gluten-Free Donut Holes
GF donut holes in the air fryer are a game changer. Light and fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside, it’s a perfect sweet treat.
The dough used for these easy gluten-free donut holes is actually a version of the 2 ingredient dough. That I use a lot! Mainly because it’s tasty, quick, easy, failproof and economical.
However, while the 2 ingredient dough is super easy, it can sometimes have a little ‘sour’ taste due to the yoghurt. Which you really don’t want when enjoying a warm donut. So, my work-around to keep the simplicity (and the gluten-free cost down) is to balance the taste with a little salt and some vanilla extract. Trust me, it really uplevels the taste!
Donut Hole Ingredients
Here is what you’ll need to make gluten-free donut balls:
- Gluten-free self-raising/self-rising flour (alternatively use gf all purpose flour + 1 tsp baking powder),
- Vanilla Greek Yoghurt,
- Vanilla extract*,
- Butter,
- Ground Cinnamon,
- Granulated white sugar,
*Differing from the viral ‘gluten’ version of these donuts, I like to add a little salt, and some vanilla extract to balance out the ‘sour’ yoghurt taste. Personally, I think this is a tiny addition that makes a big difference!
You will also need a neutral cooking spray oil for the air-fryer.

Jump to RecipeStep 1: Combine the gluten-free self-raising/self-rising flour, yoghurt, salt and vanilla in a bowl until the dough just comes together in a rough ball.
Step 2: Preheat your air fryer to 180C/360F. Lightly flour your work surface and knead the dough together until smooth. Roll out approximately 10 tablespoon-sized balls.
Step 3: Spray your air fryer with cooking spray, and add the donut balls, then lightly spray the balls too. Cook for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown.
Step 4: Whilst cooking, set up two small bowls side by side – one with the melted butter, and the other with the combined sugar and cinnamon, ready for dunking….
Step 5: As soon as the donut balls are removed from the air fryer, and still warm, you can begin dunking in the butter, then coating them in the cinnamon sugar. Delicious!
Can These Be Made Ahead/Frozen?
Like any donuts, these are best served warm! However, they can also be cooled and frozen for up to 3 months, if not required immediately. To thaw, allow to return to room temperature and then give them a little ‘zap’ in the microwave for 15-20 seconds to rewarm.
